PRINCIPAL ROLES:
Sugarplum (Age 11–12) – An imaginative, enterprising go-getter who is more comfortable with adults than kids. A clever leader who crafts quick disguises and masterminds plans. Strong singer with a belt and mix/head voice.
Gingy – Sugarplum's loving main caregiver and the ideal grandma. She balances hardships with grace, good cheer, and a knack for turning everyday tasks into games.
Grandpa – Witty, whimsical, and sensitive. A former fast-paced lawyer who left it behind to open a family bakery in a warmer climate; he loves rewarding Sugarplum's vocabulary skills.
Mayor Ratcliffe – A quick-witted, selfish wheeler-dealer who entered public service for the perks. Thinks everything would be perfect if people just followed instructions. Strong comedic timing (Think 30 Rock’s Jenna Maroni).
Tchai (Pre-teen) – Big-thinking, forward-looking, and a bit clumsy. A fiercely loyal, goofy friend who isn't afraid to make bold choices. Any gender; strong mover and singer.
Marie – A bright, energetic, and slightly intense trained ballet dancer with ambitions to be a choreographer. Some people call her the “Ice Queen,” but that’s just because that’s the role she’s playing this year.
Peter – A rule-following snow scout captain and the Mayor's son. Driven by a desperate need to prove that leadership and respect must be earned.
FEATURED ROLES & ENSEMBLE
Queenie – An open-minded, freewheeling, artistically inclined florist. Strong singer and great mover.
Lumberjack Jo – The head of the league of Christmas Tree Farmers. Tough-looking on the outside, but a total sweetheart.
Volunteer – A passionate city-of-snow resident who loves libraries, classical music, and helping others around the holidays.
Marzi, Fritz & Clara – Three goofy teenagers in the city of snow who serve as Senior Snow Scouts.
Youth & Adult Ensembles – Highly flexible groups to fill out the world as Kids, Snow Scouts, a Ballet Company, Busy Adults, Advisors, Reporters, and Customers.
